In 2022, men earned 15 per cent more than women on average within occupations involving no staff responsibility in Danish banks and mortgage credit institutions.

Part of this disparity can be explained by the fact that men more often fill positions with a high average pay.

Yet, there are significant differences when we look at the individual occupations.

In 38 of 44 occupations, men earn more than women. The most substantial wage differential is observed within 'Securities and foreign-exchange dealing,' where, on average, men earn 28 per cent more than women. The wage differential by occupation is 7.5 per cent on average.

The table below shows the pay level and wage differential in percentage terms for employees with no staff responsibility in banks and mortgage credit institutions.

CONCEPT OF PAY

The monthly pay is defined as standardised monthly earnings less any hardship allowances. It is the concept of pay closest to the pay that has been "agreed" between employee and employer. The concept indicates the amount that an employee has received per agreed hour worked, irrespective of any sick days taken by the employee or hours worked in addition to the working time agreed. Consequently, the standardised earnings are earnings less payments for overtime hours and absence but including pension.
