The union representative – your local sounding board

Your union representative safeguards your interests and strives to achieve good conditions for you and your colleagues.

A union representative is a representative elected by the employees who helps ensure that the rights of you and your colleagues are enforced and respected in dialogue with the management.

Finansforbundet has almost 900 union representatives across Denmark.

A union representative will be on your side if you face work-related challenges or are in need of advice. Reach out for advice and consultation about:

  • Pay, employment terms, holiday, maternity/paternity leave, etc.
  •  Well-being/Job satisfaction
  • Your rights under the collective agreement and local agreements at the workplace
  • Job, career and skills enhancement
  • Conflict resolution and difficult conversations
  • Cautions, summary dismissal or termination of employment
All of Finansforbundet's union representatives have undergone thorough training and therefore have a strong basis for performing the role and considerable knowledge of the collective agreement.

Your union representative has a duty of confidentiality, so you do not have to be afraid of confidential information being passed on. You agree with your union representative whether she/he is to move forward with the matter at hand.

By supporting and introducing initiatives related to the working environment, stress and well-being, the union representative contributes to creating a positive and healthy workplace culture.

"I have always been driven by putting all my efforts into making us feel good at work. When we thrive and look forward to coming to work, we perform better on a daily basis"
- Christina Pedersen, Union Representative at Nordea

Mediator focused on well-being

An important role for a union representative is to build bridges between employees and the management.

If you disagree with or have concerns about the management or your working conditions, your union representative will help you communicate them to the management in an attempt to find a solution of benefit to everyone.

“To put it in words from the world of sports: the captain is the union representative, the coach is the manager, and the players are the employees."
- Ole Nielsen, Union Representative at Spar Nord
